Linda is the founder and executive director of Students Sharing Coalition, Inc. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Towson University with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology after studying abroad in Europe for two years.  She completed a Certificate in Non-Profit Studies from Johns Hopkins University.  In 2004, she completed the Weinberg Fellows Program through the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation.  She recently graduated as a participant in the 2007 Greater Baltimore Committee’s Leadership Program and is an alumnus of the Baltimore County Leadership Program.  She is currently an advisory board member of the John’s Hopkins Center for Adolescent Health and is a member of the Paint and Powder Club of Maryland.  She continues to volunteer at her church St. Mary’s of the Assumption in Govans as a lecturer and Eucharistic minister and previously taught Sunday school there. Linda has shared her knowledge and experience by presenting to over fifty schools, universities and community groups about youth development and social justice issues related to motivation and community building. Before Students Sharing Coalition, while raising a young family, she owned and operated a small company from her home. For ten years she also worked extensively in the medical profession  for various doctors and hospitals and served as the Director of a women's health center. Bishop Madden recently presented Linda with the Social Ministry Convocation's Doris Johnson Award for her work in community organizing.

 

Brandy Kelly, Director of Programs

Brandy, though born in the southern United States comes to Baltimore with a blend of east and west coast roots.  As an alumnus of the George Washington University she holds a B.A. in International Affairs and an M.A. in Education Policy Studies. During her graduate studies, Brandy had an opportunity to focus on various types of experiential learning and the positive effects on adolescent identity development. As an advocate for the power of young people’s voices Brandy is excited to support the Students Sharing Coalition in their efforts to engage Baltimore City youth in civic leadership.

Amberlee Rust, originally from Augusta, Georgia, has been in the Baltimore
Metropolitan Area for the last six years.  She is an alumnus of the
University of Georgia and she holds a M.A.T. degree from Piedmont College, also in Georgia.  Before joining Students Sharing, Amberlee worked in the public school system as an English teacher.  Amberlee has a passion for young people and believes that civic education and service will bring about real change in our society.  She is excited about the opportunity to increase the awareness of Students Sharing Coalition throughout the area
and to expand the opportunities available to youth in the Baltimore area
and beyond.

 

Phillip Westry, High School Program Director

Phillip Westry is originally from Glen Burnie, Maryland.  He received his Bachelor’s Degree in American Studies from University of Maryland College Park while facilitating the Junior Volunteers Program at Johns Hopkins Hospital, mentoring high school students.  Philip has worked with youth all along the East coast including Philadelphia, Orlando, and Baltimore. Phillip is now enrolled in UM School of Law's Graduate Program; he is passionate about volunteering and the need for more young people to give back to their individual communities.
