Being in college today means a lot more than just having to go to class or attend lectures. In most cases, students are also working adults with other commitments and families. How can this be a life of balance? Not everyone knows, but there are a few tips that might help the situation become less volatile.

Make a Plan

Before adding new items to the schedule, the student-worker should map out a plan with goals and objectives. This will prevent taking on things that do not add up to those goals and objectives.

Use technology more efficiently

Online classes are just one part of freeing up time as a full-time worker. Students who have access to I-Pads or other devices can save time without running out to bookstores and libraries, but still be able to transfer information where it is needed much faster.

Make time to have fun

Nothing is more detrimental to a schedule than one that is filled with only work and school. Each week there should be time for play and time for faith. Both of these can help relieve and reduce stress.

Keep to the schedule

As much as possible, adhere to what has been written in the schedule.

When in college, there is a lot that can stress a student out. Between wanting to be on the Dean’s List to making sure they can work in order to have spending money, college is certainly a stressful time.

When stress gets the best of us, it can often leave us feeling depressed and overwhelmed by the world. If you suspect that you’re depressed, here are a few things you should do in order to control it and to keep it from getting worse.

Talk to someone: When we talk with someone we are close to, we can get a lot off our chest and ask for their personal advice.

Lighten your load: If you’re taking on too much with school, it’s so important to lighten your load. Try taking few classes, working fewer hours and consider increasing the fun in your life.

Exercise: Exercising is a great way to stay healthy and get rid of depression. When we exercise, we release “feel good hormones” called endorphins.

Seek professional help: If you feel your condition is worsening, be sure to seek professional help.

Depression is a serious issue that can affect anyone, anytime and at any age. If you feel like you have depression, be sure to consider these tips above in order to get better.

Going away to college for the first time is exciting but can also be frightening. You find yourself away from home and all you’ve ever known. You might be nervous about making new friends but there are many opportunities. Most colleges have freshmen gatherings at the beginnning of the term to help students get acquainted. Also, if there are entertainment opportunities, make sure you attend and take advantage of meeting new people. Eat breakfast and lunch in the campus dining room to provide more chances for meeting others. If the dorm has a common room, stop in during the evenings to see what is going on and join in. As you go through your day on campus, look for postings of any events and make sure you check them out. Staying put in your room is not going to help you to branch out. Your college may also have a work study program, another opportunity for meeting others. Also, find out if there are any clubs or sporting teams that you might be able to join for more camaraderie. It will take some effort on your part. You’ll need to reach out to others and friendships will come to you.

Sure you want to have the coolest dorm room in the hall but if you can’t spring for Direct.TV or figure out how to sneak in a keg-o-rator we’ve got some suggestions for still standing out.
Get the Video Games: Everyone congregates in the room with the great gaming station so hook yourself up and get as many controllers as will work with the system. You’re bound to have people in your room all the time if you’ve got the games they want to play.
Get lots of seating: There’s nothing worse than the dorm room that doesn’t have anywhere to sit so invest in a futon as well as some small stools or even a chair. If people know your room is comfy they’ll go out of their way to visit you.
Host Parties: We’re not talking about all night ragers that get you thrown of campus, we mean weekly get togethers with a purpose. Make sure your room always has an open door and that people know on Thursdays, head to room 403 for a good time.

Declaring a major can be scary. What if you aren’t quite sure what you want to do yet or you take a class and realize you don’t like the subject after all? It is okay. Many people change majors.

If you are unsure what you want to major in, it is best to take a wide range of courses your first few semesters. Most colleges have general education requirements for this exact purpose. The credits will go towards graduation and you will have a chance to decide whether you like certain subject areas. You might even discover something that you never thought of before. About midway through your junior year, you’ll want to settle on a major to graduate in four years.

All is not lost if you still change your mind. You can take an extra class or two in the summer or a few semesters with heavier courseloads to still graduate on time. Even spending an extra semester or year in college now is less expensive than returning to school later for a different degree. Also, keep in mind whether you are interested in furthering your degree. A master’s program may allow you to make up a few extra undergraduate classes and still complete a different program of study.

Students who are doing their Undergraduate or Masters students enrolled in a regular school definitely prefer doing an internship before looking for a full time job after their graduation.

Doing an internship during your education and before a full time job has several advantages.
You can learn more about your field through internships even during your school days along with dedicating some time for your studies. You will have first hand experience of working in a professional environment.

In most of the industries it is almost impossible to get a job as a fresher. Internship experiences provide a great opportunity to learn and showcase your skills to your prospective employer.
You can also build up your contact list through networking and obtain references for future job opportunities. Networking is one of the ways you can land up in a new job or the job that is not advertised.

Many employers prefer to hire graduates who have real time experience as an intern in the relevant field rather than just hiring a fresher with no experience. Hence it is advisable that students should search for internship in the relevant field which they would like to select as their career after they graduate.

Leaving for college can be bittersweet. Your excited to open a new chapter in your life but you dread the hard part, leaving family and friends behind. Don’t sweat it, with the way technology has evolved over the decades you can talk for hours on webcam or through social networking. Websites such as Facebook and Twitter are great ways to see what’s going on back home even if your miles away. Facebook allows you to interact with friends and family through postings and direct messaging. You can post inspirational sayings on your friends wall or a simple, “I miss you.” If you are searching for friends on facebook, you type their name in the search engine at the top of the page and any related names will show up. You can also look for friends by typing in the high-school or college you both attended or attending. Make sure to adjust your privacy settings so somethings only you or friends can see. Some of the default settings are set to friends of friends which means people who aren’t on your friends-list can have access to your information. Always take precautions when utilizing social networks. People are not always who they say they are.The information party rocks on: Social network’s boomerang!

Beginning your first year of college is an exciting and nervewrecking experience. It may take some time getting used to the routine, studies, and your roomate. Many colleges require that first-year non-resident students reside in the dormitories for at least one full year. Oftentimes your roomate will turn out to be one of your closest friends and this is often the first person you meet on campus. However, there are a few instances where you and your roomate may not get along at all. What do you do if you are having problems with your roomate? Many new college students will attempt to stick it out and simply ignore the problem because they believe that there is nothing that can be done. However, this is not true. If there are problems between two individuals in the dorms, the resident leader in charge can be notified. Once this is done, the resident leader will first try to settle the issues so that they can be resolved. If this talk still does not help, many times you will get re-assigned to another dorm. Just remember, having a crazy roomate does not have to make your college life experience hell, rather all you have to do is communicate about the problem and it can be resolved. The hits keep comin’: NEWS ANALYSIS Dorm transfers review
