We offer experiential learning programs that allow participants to broaden their understanding of the world through service to others.  Using this model, the organization serves both the student -- who, through exposure to humanitarian projects, can learn valuable lessons about their community and about their own identity -- and the individual to whom services have been rendered.  Our three-tiered approach involves Academic Preparation, Community Action, and Structured Reflection.

ACADEMIC PREPARATION:

Students are exposed to research, statistics, and divergent opinions about the community issue they'll be addressing, and are prepared for the sights, sounds, and smells of where they'll be performing service.

COMMUNITY ACTION:

Students perform service in the community, either through one of our local partners or through projects of their own making.  This might involve feeding the homeless, conducting art projects for foster children, or lobbying in Annapolis for social and economic equity.

STRUCTURED REFLECTION:

After each project, students participate in a reflection activity, designed to give them time and space to process their experience.  This is crucial, as effective reflection puts the service into a broader context, and reinforces it in students' memories.
